Must Visit Tenterfield Restaurants and Bars

These are just some of my favourite finds from the Life Unhurried Locals Guide to Tenterfield – a little collection of insider tips on the best coffee, food, shopping and sunset spots to help you fall in love with this special part of the world just like I did.

For friends visiting the town looking for a romantic stay I always recommend Stonefruit for a light meal and some truly impressive local wines. You can’t go past Knucklehead Wines by a local young winemaker that punches well above its weight. Stonefruit has also been awarded the SMH Best Drinks List in Australia giving you more local Granite Belt and international wines to choose from. I particularly love popping in for a grappa, espresso and a pastry for breakfast too!

We also recommend the back deck during summer or inside by the fire at the Commercial Hotel for lunch or dinner (outdoors is pet friendly).

For a truly unique local and family-friendly dinner you can’t go past the Golf Club. We also love sending friends to Balancing Heart Vineyard for its famous Scarlet and Shiraz BBQ dinner. It’s perfect for couples to wander through the vineyard and watch the sunset together – and ideal for families to keep the kids entertained hand feeding the animals. And it’s only 20 minutes from town.
